The Return of Hippiefest
Hippiefest returns to Dallas this Thursday (29july09), at the Nokia Theater, for a 3rd year to celebrate the music and bands of rock's most important decade; an age that would shape the musical landscape for years to come. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the summer of '68, a year that, according to Time Magazine "changed the world." That is no less true for 68's music than its politics and social revolution, so come take a trip back in time and experience musical pioneers like Jack Bruce of Cream; Eric Burdon & The Animals; The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie; Badfinger; Melanie; and Jonathan Edwards.
Tour creator Toby Ludwig explains to Billboard Online: "For years I've been wanting to put out a socially conscious show, because our times are similar to my childhood, which was in the '60s. There are so many concerts out there that don't make a social statement. It's important to be aware of who we are and what we're doing as a country," Ludwig says. "Sometimes the best way to do it is through a concert."
Hippiefest features several musicians who performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and the original Woodstock. The 22-date tour kicks off in Phoenix, AZ on July 11.
Hippiefest has been praised as "A taste of Woodstock without the mud and bad acid" (Miami Herald), "guaranteed to get boomers misty-eyed enough to fog up their bifocals" (Newsday). The NY Post simply declared, "No shoes, no shirt, no problem."
A full line of flower power paraphernalia such as tie-dye t-shirts, skirts, caps, bags, stickers and posters will be available throughout the tour.
Hippiefest is produced by Toby Ludwig and Ron Hausfeld of Flower Power Concerts, Inc.

Revenge of the Mud Bugs
Unfortunately, the Crawfish Boil was rained out. A few hardy souls were there from the beginning --- before it started raining, but within an hour fierce winds and harsh rains opened up, forcing many people to abandon their plans for chowing down on the 1,000 pounds of Mud Bugs and instead to head for the nearest restaurant for steak and potatoes *. The only upside is that those Classmates of ours who live out of town were spared making their long drives for nothing. But, hey, don't forget next year! Hopefully Rick's Crawfish Boil will live to see yet another day. * Don't ask me, ask Dan Quayle.

Crawfish Boil Creeping Up Fast
May 2, 2009 - just one week away! Yes, it's almost time to turn the table on those creepy, crawly bugs by creeping up on them instead and boiling a thousand pounds or so of those little buggers in preparation of a major "chow down" --- that would be Rick Parish's 2009 Crawfish Boil, of course. Here's the official, printable flyer for the event. Make copies for your scrapbook, to hand out to all your friends, or for any other reason you think suitable (like maybe in finding the place! It's not easy.). Oh! Need a visual map to Rick's? Here's one ( click here for map). Reminders:
- The Boil takes place from 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 2 until way into the morning of the next day.
- Don't forget to bring a cooler, late night snacks, your musical axes, your better half, fold-up chair, hat, sunny disposition, and --- if you want to camp out with us in Camp City --- sleeping bag and/or tent.
- See the Who's Coming page for a list of WWW69 people who've already said they are coming. (Expect 250+ people to attend, overall.)
- See the RSVP Page if you'd like to RSVP, too.
- See the Events Page for more information on the Crawfish Boil and other planned events for our WWW69 Class.
- Check back here for any last minute information added to the Blog.

Correcting People's Registration Info
|
We've noticed that several people accidentally entered typos when entering their registration information --- sometimes, even their own names. Today, we've corrected all mistakes we could find, converted several lower-case entries to upper-case, and so on. It's entirely possible that we made mistakes ourselves in doing so. So if you notice problems with your Registration data, please go to the Register page, find your entry, and click on the Edit Info button. This will then reopen your registration record and let you change it to your heart's content.

Is Your Life Changing, Too?
How is your average day segmented? Has it changed any as you've gotten older, as the kids have moved out, as the ex has moved on to browner pastures? A friend sent in this diagram yesterday to show how his average Life Segments have developed over time, yielding the following result:

Blog reactivated.
We've finally gotten around to reactivating the blog for this reunion site. The blog will be largely devoted to posting news and information items, both those relating to our reunion itself and those to updates to this website itself. So you might just want to check back here regularly. Notes:
- Instead of checking back here all the time, you can subscribe to the blog via an RSS feed. (Click on the RSS button up and to the right a bit. See it?)
- Please feel free to add your own comments to any blog entry. Just click on the "Add a new comment" link below the particular blog entry you want to comment on.
- Anonymous comments? You bet! If you'd like to make a comment, but you blush when you think of adding your name to the comment, don't worry. Just make up a name, and you can still add your comment. Note that if we get any really weird, suspicious blog comments that are anonymous, we might just have to delete them to maintain some sense of propriety. But until then, feel free.
